The recent horrific incident on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore by terrorists announces the shift to hitherto relatively safe domain of sports which was spared by the mind less Talibans till now.
Sheer providence and presence of mind displayed by the alert targets coupled with few execution mishaps experienced by the rogues saved lives of the players though some innocent persons were unfortunately killed.
The larger question that now arises is - what can the world do about the expanding terror menace and more importantly how do we protect the globe from a failed nuclear enabled state represented by Pakistan.
The fool hardy approach of the U.S. administration (see the "Save Pakistan" proposals) of shirking responsibility by doling billions more to Pakistan confirms American policy makers still live in a "Fools Paradise". Is the Obama effect waning? Where is the change (not the few billions kind) Mr. President?
May be USA and the rest of the world will wake up only after another 9/11 scale of hit on their soil to realize that Pakistan is already a failed state - when they will look back to see that the fresh billions further strengthened the capacity of the rogues to destroy. It will be too late.
It is more than obvious that U.S. taxpayers have been funding Pakistan's bogus war on terror based on deceit and fake actions. The Bush-Mush partnership is responsible for the escalating sophisticated terror strikes in the region sure to extend around the globe soon.
The large followers of Islam who live any where on planet earth need to salvage their faith by raising a collective voice against the distorted interpretation of the holy Koran being abused by a minority in the name of their religion. Loud protests and awareness campaigns have to be launched on a war footing to save humanity. All sane individuals who believe in the religion of humanity must support the Muslims in their latent desire to exist without fear along with others.
The threat is no longer 'far away' from any one. Complacency and wishful thinking cannot be a 'safety zone' because the terrorist is lurking in our back yard and no amount of denial will make the stark reality go away.

Hello Uncle! This is Bhavini, I'm a friend of Tina's at college. Those two deleted comments were mine :)
We have some Pakistani friends, who were into the fashion business. They fled (literally) from Pakistan to Dubai around four years ago. It seems this attack by Taliban was pretty obvious in the near future at that time. And it's not surprising, since Pakistan is probably one of the few countries that seems to be quite complacent to not just terrorism but also terrorist-related activities, like recruiting and training, etc. Though our country too, is a fertile breeding ground for picking up disillusioned, misguided youth.
I was wondering about how Pakistan has come to this present state. Is it because of its history of unstable governance, or because it is essentially a religion-based state? Or are there other reasons for this?
Religion is the spoiler because it restricts normal human behavior influenced by manipulative interpretation of scriptures and customs. Pakistan's case is unique because the nation was formed on the basis of religion??
Unfortunately, we are seeing traces of intolerance and mixture of religion with politics in India too which we need to be wary of.
